Product Safety

Are all the eclipse glasses on this website safe to use?

Yes. Our solar eclipse glasses are CE marked and tested to EN ISO 12312-2:2015 for direct solar viewing. Always inspect your glasses before use and do not use them if the lenses are scratched, torn, punctured, or damaged.

Can I look directly at the sun with these glasses?

Yes, but only while wearing undamaged eclipse glasses designed for direct solar viewing. Put the glasses on before looking toward the Sun, and look away from the Sun before removing them.

What will I see when wearing eclipse glasses?

You should see the Sun as a dim, clear disk against a dark background. You should not be able to see ordinary indoor objects clearly through proper eclipse glasses.

Can I use regular sunglasses instead of eclipse glasses?

No. Regular sunglasses, even very dark sunglasses, are not safe for looking directly at the Sun. Use eclipse glasses or a handheld solar viewer designed for solar observation.

Do I need eclipse glasses during a partial solar eclipse?

Yes. During a partial solar eclipse, the Sun is never fully covered, so proper solar viewing protection is required at all times.

Can I use your glasses with cameras or telescopes?

No. Eclipse glasses are for direct viewing with your eyes only. Do not look at the Sun through a camera, phone lens, telescope, binoculars, or other optical device while wearing eclipse glasses. Optical devices require special solar filters attached to the front of the lens.

Certification & Compliance

What is EN ISO 12312-2:2015 certification and why does it matter?

EN ISO 12312-2:2015 is the international safety standard for filters used for direct observation of the Sun. It helps confirm that solar viewers reduce intense visible sunlight and block harmful ultraviolet and infrared radiation.

What does EN ISO 12312-2:2015 certification mean?

It means the product has been tested against requirements for direct solar viewing filters. Eclipse glasses should meet this standard before they are used to look directly at the Sun.

What does CE Marked Mean?

CE marking indicates that the product is intended to meet applicable European requirements. Our solar eclipse glasses are CE marked and tested to EN ISO 12312-2:2015.

Why is certification important for eclipse glasses?

Looking directly at the Sun without proper protection can cause serious eye injury. Certification helps confirm that eclipse glasses are designed and tested for safe solar viewing.

How can I check if eclipse glasses meet safety standards?

Check for safety markings, manufacturer information, usage instructions, and certification details. Before use, inspect the lenses and frame carefully. Do not use glasses that are damaged or appear questionable.

Are these glasses approved for use in Europe?

Yes. Our solar eclipse glasses are CE marked and tested to EN ISO 12312-2:2015 for solar observation.
